The CLS will perform a variety of laboratory tests and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining safety and quality in laboratory operations.

Responsibilities
Provides accurate and timely pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical aspects of clinical laboratory testing
Performs qualitative and quantitative tests per procedure, meeting all regulatory requirements and following established procedures within the total laboratory quality program
Responsible for specimen acceptability, preventive maintenance, temperature control, reagent handling, calibration, quality control, documentation and communication of all tests performed
Accountability for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies to demonstrate ethical behavior
All other duties or responsibilities as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or other science discipline which meets federal CLIA educational requirements
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license
BLS certification within 3 months of hire
Completion of an accredited training program in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
Preferred
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
2 years of generalist clinical laboratory experience
Previous hospital clinical laboratory experience
