Hallmark Media is seeking a VP of SVOD Technology to lead the technological advancements and infrastructure strategy for their premium streaming platform, Hallmark+. This role focuses on delivering high-quality streaming experiences, optimizing performance, and driving subscriber engagement and growth through innovative strategies and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
Foster a culture of continuous innovation and technical excellence within the engineering team and all associated vendors and partners
Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable streaming solutions to support Hallmark+’s SVOD services
Develop a strategic vision for integrating new technologies to maintain Hallmark+’s competitive edge
Drive the architectural design and engineering direction for Hallmark+, ensuring a robust infrastructure capable of handling high traffic volumes, especially during peak periods such as the holiday season
Define and execute the long‑term product strategy for Hallmark+, incorporating AVOD models, shoppable video experiences, and AI‑driven content recommendations
Work closely with content teams, marketing, and product management to align technical capabilities with strategic goals
Collaborate with all business units to ensure technology projects support broader business objectives
Ensure seamless integration of platform features that enhance user experience, such as personalized recommendations and exclusive content access
Partner with customer service and operations teams to promptly address and resolve technical issues impacting the user experience
Implement best practices for performance optimization, CDN integration, and adaptive streaming to provide high‑quality playback across all devices
Oversee the optimization of CDNs and ensure efficient use of adaptive streaming technologies
Manage video encoding pipelines, balancing high‑quality playback with cost‑effective solutions
Monitor and improve latency, buffering times, and video resolution across devices
Develop and implement strategies to integrate CPG and retail (e‑commerce) features into the streaming platform
Collaborate with product, business, and retail partners to create shoppable content and enhance the user experience through seamless e‑commerce integrations
Utilize data analytics to drive personalized shopping experiences and optimize e‑commerce performance
Work with CPG brands to develop exclusive content and promotions that drive engagement and sales
Implement features that allow users to purchase products directly from the streaming platform, creating a seamless shopping experience
Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating emerging technologies in OTT and streaming services
Assess and implement advancements such as AI‑driven content recommendations, data‑driven analytics, and machine learning for improved user engagement
Stay current with developments in video compression, streaming protocols, and next‑generation UI technologies
Oversee the DevOps strategy for CI/CD pipelines, system reliability, and incident management
Lead efforts to automate workflows and reduce latency in content delivery
Develop and manage CI/CD processes to support agile development cycles
Automate system monitoring and enhance platform reliability through proactive measures
Lead incident management efforts and establish robust disaster recovery plans
Ensure all engineering efforts comply with industry standards for data protection, DRM, and secure video delivery
Maintain the highest standards of security, protecting user data and content rights with advanced DRM solutions
Conduct regular audits and stay informed about data protection regulations to ensure compliance across all services
Implement and manage protocols for secure content delivery and encryption
Qualification
Required
12+ years of experience in technology management or software engineering, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role overseeing OTT streaming services
Proven experience leading large‑scale OTT or streaming projects, with strong knowledge of cloud‑based infrastructure, video encoding, and DRM solutions
Familiarity with key vendors in the streaming ecosystem
Strong understanding of Identity Management Systems, Content Management Systems, and Subscription Management Systems
Experience with streaming observability tools such as Conviva, Youbora, and MUX
Demonstrated experience with app release management in major app stores
Strong understanding of streaming data taxonomy and data supply chains
Strong understanding of personalization and recommendation systems within streaming platforms
Proficiency in cloud‑based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
Advanced proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, Amplitude) for data‑driven decision‑making
Experience with AI and machine learning tools to enhance customer engagement
Experience managing distributed engineering teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders across business units
Proven track record of fostering innovation and driving cross‑functional collaboration
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to proactively address complex technical challenges
Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
Preferred
Familiarity with shoppable content development and integrating e‑commerce features into streaming platforms is a plus
