Data Architects
University of Utah Health Research is seeking Data Architects to work with a talented team of developers, researchers, and clinicians in the Division of Epidemiology. The role involves designing, deploying, and managing data architecture for large-scale research projects in infectious diseases, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility, and collaborating with various teams to define data standards.

Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage the organization’s data architecture
Collaborate with technology and management teams to understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization and translate into a usable blueprint
Build an inventory of data needed to implement architecture and create a vision for how data will flow through the organization
Design and build complex data models, approve modifications, and implement systems
Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, constantly monitoring and refining the performance of data management systems
Produce and enforce database development standards
Possess strong understanding of data modeling tools and standards, ETL tools, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Pig, NoSQL)
Recognized as subject matter expert and advanced individual contributor professional
Requires specialized skill set
Conducts highly complex work, unsupervised and with extensive latitude for independent judgment
Qualification
Required
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 10 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 12 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 14 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 12 years of directly related work experience
Proficient in data analysis and management familiar with Microsoft Business Intelligence stack
Proficiency in either Python or R required
Expert use of natural language processing libraries (spaCy, medspaCy, huggingface, etc.) and/or machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, Pytorch, etc.) a plus
Strong understanding of data modeling tools and standards, ETL tools, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Pig, NoSQL)
Preferred
Previous experience VA CDW, University Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW), or other large electronic health record or administrative healthcare data sets strongly preferred
Experience with TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI strongly preferred
