Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and mentor crew members; delegate tasks, manage workflow, and maintain crew morale and safety
Operate the HDD rig, guide the drill head, manage drilling fluid (mud), and pull back conduit/cable to install utilities accurately
Conduct site safety assessments, ensure adherence to OSHA/company rules, locate existing utilities (potholing), and implement strike prevention measures
Manage job site setup, supervise potholing, and oversee restoration (grading, seeding, cleanup)
Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and ensure all tools and machinery (backhoes, trenchers, drills) are in working order
Complete daily reports, document work, and communicate with project managers and stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in HDD operations and team leadership
Knowledge of utility locating, mud mixing, and drill guidance systems
Ability to read blueprints, utility maps, and drill profiles
Strong focus on safety and risk mitigation
Valid driver's license, potentially CDL, and DOT certifications
