2nd Shift Team Lead

CST Industries, Inc. is engaged in the custom manufacture of engineered storage tanks and tank accessories. The 2nd Shift Team Leader will direct the activities of the fabrication team, ensuring productivity and safety while maintaining quality standards in a challenging manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe work environment that is compliant with all CST Safety Policies and OSHA standards. (Perform daily safety talks as well as pushing employees to change the culture around safety)
Lead a team, mentor, and motivate team members, ensuring individual and group productivity. (Track and assign action on the line level LDM when missed)
Act as communications hub for the team, disseminating pertinent and timely information. Responsible for communication with other team leaders, including shift to shift communications. (Ensure all LDM and production boards are current as well as sending an email explaining needed information)
Schedule routine production functions, as well as special production needs and repairs. (Work with supervisor and other Team Leads to update and track current progress on the production board to facilitate employee requirements per line)
Work within the system to monitor production flow, using data indicators to schedule workload, ensuring output meets CST’s targeted goals
Maintain and boost efficiency, initiate and implement continuous improvement projects, train team members, and work with all departments to implement new processes
Assist in performing hands-on production and assembly functions on the line when required
Assume responsibility for quality output as a participant in administering the company’s Quality Management System
Implement Lean Manufacturing practices and/or Six Sigma Methods
Determine certification needs/requirements for employee and facilitate testing
Complete and deliver performance reviews, commendations, and disciplinary actions

Required

High School Diploma or GED required
Prefer 1-3 years' experience as a hands-on floor leader
Proven leadership, verbal communications and interpersonal skills
Time Management, scheduling, and prioritization skills
Strong commitment to safety
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to make effective decisions in an expedient manner while maintaining extremely high-quality standards
Experience with utilizing and creating effective M Excel spreadsheets; working capability with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
Demonstrated working knowledge of computer systems
Ability to appropriately prioritize resources based upon needs, established protocols and demands
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. (manufacturing environment)
Ability to obtain Fork Truck License
Ability to travel to job sites on occasion

Preferred

Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g. ISO, CWB, API) a plus
Knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, welding, and related management processes (e.g. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, CI) a plus
Prefer experience in advanced manufacturing skills
