The Facility Quality Assurance Technician supports HWI’s mission by testing products and raw materials, judging samples against standards, and entering data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Verify in process production

Performs physical testing of finished goods

Performs final inspections

Enters LIMS data into appropriate systems and judges acceptability of product

Screens analysis of raw materials and mixes

Sample preparation

Performs additional testing as required

Required

Requires high school diploma and one (1) year of college education or technical training with emphasis on math and science

Requires computer operation aptitude (MS Office and LIMS system or similar products)

Requires abilities to follow directions, provide innovative solutions, and both work independently or as a team member

Requires knowledge of refractory industry and quality assurance

Physical Activity: Requires less than 1/3 of time sitting, climbing/balancing, and stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling. Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, and speaking/hearing. Requires more than 2/3 of time standing

Lifting: Requires lifting up to 25 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of time, and lifting up to 50 pounds more than 2/3 of time

Vision: Requires accurate close vision, color vision, and the ability to focus

Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time in an office setting and working near moving mechanical parts. Also requires less than 1/3 of time in wet/humid conditions, working in high, precarious places, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration, outdoor weather, and in extreme heat or cold

Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise
