Human Resources Manager
SolomonEdwards is a manufacturing client seeking a Human Resources & Safety Manager to oversee HR and Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities at their Spartanburg, SC facility. This role is crucial for driving a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting positive employee relations in a union manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Partner with plant leadership to align HR and safety strategies with overall business and operational goals
Serve as the primary HR contact for plant employees across all shifts, providing guidance, communication, and support
Promote positive employee relations by addressing concerns, leading investigations, resolving conflicts, and supporting performance management
Lead employee engagement and communication initiatives, including plant-wide meetings, updates, and messaging
Manage full-cycle talent acquisition for salaried and hourly roles, from sourcing through onboarding
Coordinate benefits administration, leaves of absence, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and maintain employee records and HRIS systems
Lead learning and development initiatives including compliance training, leadership development, and succession planning
Ensure compliance with labor laws, union agreements, corporate policies, and reporting requirements
Collaborate with corporate HR on programs, policies, and strategic initiatives
Serve as the site EH&S lead , owning safety and environmental programs for the facility
Drive a proactive safety-first culture by leading safety committees, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and internal safety standards
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence
Coordinate safety training and awareness programs for all employees
Partner with plant leadership and quality teams to integrate safety into daily operations
Monitor safety metrics, trends, and reporting, and communicate performance to leadership
Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related inspections, audits, and regulatory matters
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of combined HR and safety leadership experience
Manufacturing environment experience required
Union experience required
Working knowledge of OSHA, federal, state, and local employment and safety regulations
Strong employee relations, communication, and leadership skills
Preferred
Professional HR or safety certification a plus
