Construction Engineer I-Sr. (Utility)
Entergy is a leading energy provider, and they are seeking a Construction Engineer I-Sr. (Utility) to manage the planning and execution of construction activities for capital projects. This role involves collaboration with project teams to ensure safety, cost efficiency, and adherence to schedules while overseeing contractors and managing project resources.

Responsibilities
Through the stage gate process, this role will be responsible for developing specific class estimates, scopes of work, construction management plans, outage plans, contract strategy, participate in design and constructability reviews, oversee contractors through execution of work, and ensuring all configuration and compliance management procedures are adhered to
Provide input to the development of a Project Execution Plan (PEP):
Support definition of project-specific work scope
Develop detailed construction plans including sequencing, target schedule dates and outage requirements
Define construction resource plans (contractor and/or internal)
Identify construction hazards / risks and associated mitigation plans (safety and/or environmental)
Estimate detailed construction costs
Support construction resource contracting efforts:
Provide input to annual contracting strategy
Assembled and lead construction bid events including development of bid packages / RFPs, host pre-bid meetings and communicate performance and safety expectations to potential contractors
Coordinate with Supply Chain partners to review proposals, perform evaluations and award contracts
Participate in engineering constructability review(s)
Provide and support field oversight to ensure safety expectations are met or exceeded
Promote a safe and healthy workplace both in the office environment and field. Lead pre-construction kick-off meeting(s) with construction resources
Perform quality assurance checks throughout construction to ensure all materials and construction practices are in accordance with Entergy’s Design and Construction specs / standards
Serve as a liaison between construction oversight and engineering / design to resolve any material procurement or design package issues; document lessons learned for continuous improvement
Provide detailed schedule forecasts, cost projections and/or project updates to all relevant stakeholders
Manage and track construction costs including submission of accruals and reviewing / approving invoices
Ensure schedule and financial performance targets are met or exceeded
Perform project close-out activities including contract completion, as-builts, etc
Track contractor cost and schedule performance. Work with contractors to develop recovery plans as needed
Manage contractors in alignment with contract terms. Review, validate, challenge, and process change orders
Ensure the integration of safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management practices into final products/designs/processes
Oversee distribution pre-construction or construction activities
Accountable for the resolution of technical engineering conflicts that affect cost, schedule quality or customer satisfaction
Work with other disciplines within the Distribution organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals
Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from four-year accredited institution
Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered
Engineer II: at least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline
Leads without formal authority
Demonstrates self-motivation; does not require direct supervision
Able to apply sound engineering and construction principles
Knowledgeable in estimating and developing scopes of work for RFPs
Ability to prepare and report jobs status to project stakeholders
Ability to plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve emerging ones
Ability to negotiate terms of contract agreements
Ability to analyze, manage, and mitigate risks
Ability to ensure construction standards/processes are properly utilized
Exhibits leadership and interpersonal skills; demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent construction management skills
Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software
Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
Ability to work well under pressure
Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures
Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards
Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base
Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change
In depth understanding of utility regulation
Must have valid driver's license and good driving record
Preferred
Experience in utility construction
PMP, FE, and PE
