Procurement Manager, Ingredient Strategy

Responsibilities
Oversee procurement activities as part of cross-functional governance for initiatives impacting MAHA, processed foods, and emerging regulatory requirements
Lead high-visibility programs from problem identification through solution implementation, with minimal oversight
Ensure alignment with corporate priorities and deliver results that enhance supply continuity for our customers while positively impacting P&L performance
Champion continuous improvement in procurement processes, tools, and governance
Anticipate and respond to global regulatory changes; partner with legal, quality and regulatory teams to ensure compliance
Influence internal policy and external advocacy efforts related to ingredient sourcing
Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers to drive innovation, resilience, and competitive advantage
Negotiate complex agreements and manage supplier performance at an executive level
Collaborate with senior leaders in R&D, Quality, Legal, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to deliver integrated solutions
Present complex strategies and recommendations succinctly to executive leadership and governance committees
Lead and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence
Drive talent development and succession planning within the procurement organization
Leverage advanced analytics to inform strategic decisions, optimize cost structures, and identify growth opportunities
Define, develop and execute global ingredient procurement strategies aligned with Abbott’s long-term business objectives
Serve as a thought leader on market trends, regulatory shifts, and risk mitigation strategies
Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives within ingredient sourcing
Purchasing responsibilities managing spend in alignment with purchasing policies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive procurement experience, including strategic sourcing and supplier management
Proven track record of leading enterprise-level projects with impactful business results
Documented examples of teamwork and successful collaboration with senior leadership
Experience with governmental/regulatory bodies and legal frameworks
People leadership experience required; ability to manage and develop high-performing teams
Executive presence and ability to communicate complex topics clearly and persuasively
Strategic thinking with strong project management and leadership capabilities
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to influence and collaborate across global functions
Advanced Microsoft Excel
