Responsibilities
Installation, upgrade and maintenance of VTAM, TCPIP, OSA and related products
Sound knowledge in SMPE
Interface with operations, logs and automation jobs
Good knowledge of related software and tools
Good experience with software maintenance
Experience in backup and recovery processes for subsystems
Knowledge in resource definition, security and other administration tasks
Strong Networking knowledge, skills in Printers configuration, FTP, SMTP, SNMP configurations
Experienced technician with basic skills in most and more advanced skills in some of the following:
A. TCP/IP and associated products/protocols
B. SNA, VTAM, APPN/Enterprise Extender
C. Connect Direct and other file transfer products
D. Session Management products eg. TPX, Teleview, CL/Supersession
E. Network Management products eg. NETVIEW, Netmaster/TCPIP
F. Print server products eg. VPS
Must be a self-starter, but also a completer/finisher who ensures that tasks/projects are fully completed with the necessary updates to documentation
Well organized and able to keep a number of activities in progress in parallel, balancing priorities as necessary, in particular between support and project work
Ability to communicate clearly at all levels while working either individually or as a team player is essential
Strong English language skills are a requirement for this role
GDPS Setup and Configuration
Proficient in REXX coding
Qualification
Required
Experience in GDPS and REXX
