Collector

The California Franchise Tax Board is seeking a Collector to join their Business Entity Complex Account Resolution Team. This advanced journey-person level position involves performing complex compliance activities, analyzing and resolving sensitive business entity collection accounts, and maintaining an assigned caseload while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Independently performs complex compliance activities
Uses advanced technical and business experience to analyze and resolve sensitive, high dollar Business Entity (BE) collection accounts
Performs extensive account analysis to collect the outstanding tax liability
Resolves collection accounts by primarily contacting the taxpayers via telephone and written correspondence
Maintains and monitors an assigned caseload to ensure commitments are met by taxpayers, businesses, and/or their representatives
Responsible for answering Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) calls (CART and Early Stage Contact Center)
Assisting with other bureau essential workloads

Preferred

Experience and knowledge in proactive Business Entity (BE) collections
Knowledge of California's Bank and Corporation (BC) Tax Laws, Personal Income Tax (PIT) Laws, Federal and State Commercial Laws, and Federal Income Tax Laws
Knowledge of Franchise Tax Board (FTB) systems Business Entities Tax System (BETS), Taxpayer Information (TI), Secretary of State (SOS), Enterprise-Wide Bankruptcy System (EWBS), Enterprise-Wide Lien System (EWLS), Integrated Nonfiler Compliance (INC), Lexis, Taxpayer Folder (TPF), and Case Management (CM)
Experience with Excel and Outlook
Experience with managing an assigned case inventory
Excellent technical, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
Excellent customer service skills with an ability to resolve customer issues with tact and diplomacy
Ability to work independently and on teams and adjust to changing priorities
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Reliability, professionalism, and courtesy
Strong work ethic and punctuality
Contact Center experience such as answering Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) calls and working correspondence
