Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is a community college dedicated to providing educational opportunities to diverse populations. The Recruiter will be responsible for outreach and recruitment services, guiding prospective students through the admissions process and supporting student onboarding and engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities
Offer outreach and recruitment services to high school and adult learner populations
Provide guidance and communicate information to prospective and enrolled students on SVCC’s admissions process, academic and workforce programs, courses, and procedures
Plan, implement, and support activities that align with the mission of the Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS) division
Organize and execute special events targeting potential students
Assist in dual enrollment administration as necessary
Oversee innovative recruitment opportunities for the Eastern Region of service areas
Strengthen community partner relationships through outreach and representation of the college
Be a contributing member of the onboarding team, offering support to prospective students from inquiry to enrollment
Perform other duties as assigned
Assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor
Qualification
Required
Valid driver's license
Recent professional experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Google Docs, PeopleSoft (or related student information systems), retention-based software, and customer relationship management (CRM) software
Experience working with racially, ethnically, economically, and age-diverse individuals
Expertise in student services, including one or more of the following: college admissions, advising, financial aid/services, recruitment, and other related areas
Ability to maintain appropriate legal compliance in the areas of budget development and monitoring, and records management
Ability to respond meaningfully to the needs of individuals with respect, sensitivity, and civility
Ability to give instructions to others; arrive at decisions, develop solutions
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce, student population, and individuals with disabilities
Ability to manage interpersonal conflict situations requiring tact and diplomacy
Ability to create promotional materials for services provided (including print, social media, and website presence)
Understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other applicable laws; ability to maintain confidentiality and legal compliance; using professional discretion, and exercising ethical conduct
Ability to present materials effectively to individual students or groups
Ability to independently plan, organize, and implement multiple assigned responsibilities, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
Ability to participate as a team member, understand and interpret rules and regulations, and adjust to change
Ability to access, interpret, and analyze data and proactively utilize this information to address student needs and continuously improve onboarding and engagement initiatives
Ability to display self-confidence, patience, empathy, and availability when building rapport with students
Ability to work collaboratively across diverse operational areas and campus locations, including, but not limited to, recruitment, admissions, academic affairs, counseling/advising, financial aid, business office, and K-12 divisions
Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include some evenings and weekend hours during peak enrollment seasons and targeted onboarding activities
Preferred
Competency in customer relationship management (CRM) software, PeopleSoft, Navigate and other technologies
Experience working with students in a community college environment
