Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark for batch and streaming workloads

Build, schedule, and monitor complex workflows using Apache Airflow

Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines for data engineering projects using GitHub, Docker, and cloud-native tools

Apply test-driven development (TDD) practices and automate unit and integration testing

Ensure secure coding practices and robust design patterns throughout the development lifecycle

Collaborate with data architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions

Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs and data flow diagrams

Lead and mentor junior engineers, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and deployment

Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and system issues

Support cross-team knowledge sharing and cross-training for operational continuity

Required

12+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 5+ years in hands-on data engineering

Strong experience building production-grade data pipelines using Python and PySpark

Proven expertise in Apache Airflow (DAG design, deployment, monitoring)

Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows

Hands-on experience with Docker and cloud platforms (GCP preferred)

Strong object-oriented Python skills and dependency management experience

Proficiency with Git (branching, merging, pull requests, collaboration workflows)

Solid experience working in Unix/Linux environments

Strong understanding of SQL for data ingestion and analytics

Comfortable with code reviews, pair programming, and collaborative development

Experience working in waterfall, iterative, and agile methodologies

Preferred

Graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field

Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD)

Exposure to enterprise tools such as OpenShift, Cloudera, Tableau, Confluence, and Jira

Strong engineering mindset focused on maintainability, scalability, and testability
