Principal Software Engineer
The Broad Institute is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for their Data Analysis & Operations team. This role involves developing a high scale cloud-based orchestration platform for genomics pipelines and leading technical activities to support various projects for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Help design, build, and maintain the necessary infrastructure
Coordinate and lead the technical activities needed to support exciting new projects on the platform, for both internal and external stakeholders
Work effectively across multiple departments, partners, and with a wide community of computational biologists and medical/cancer geneticists
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of software development experience
Proven ability to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems
Ability to design, write, and read technical documents
Track record of being able to deliver (or overdeliver) on time
Comfortable presenting and communicating technical solutions to non-technical, client stakeholders
Capable of understanding and translating technical requirements
Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment
Ability to learn new technologies and domains
A focus on outcomes and customer success
Experience with cloud environments (eg. AWS, GCP)
Experience integrating complex systems together
Experience with multiple programming languages (especially Python and Java)
Experience working with relational databases and in writing SQL queries
Experience troubleshooting and debugging complex systems
Experience with security practices and within regulatory environments
Excellent communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment required
Must be able to handle a variety of tasks, effectively solve problems with numerous and complex variables, and be able to shift priorities rapidly
Preferred
Familiarity with Apache Airflow a plus
