Human Resources - HRP022, HR Spec 3 (pay grade L) "Employee Relations Management Specialist" - Atlanta, GA
Team Georgia Careers is part of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), and they are seeking an Employee Relations Management Specialist. This role involves advising managers and employees on HR policies, managing HR programs, and facilitating conflict resolution, while providing employee relations services across various offices in the state.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Under limited supervision, advises managers and/or employees concerning a variety of Human Resource (HR) policies and job-related matters
May manage various HR programs; participates in administrative hearings, as required; prepares adverse actions and other disciplinary actions to include making recommendations; and, processes employee grievances
May facilitate mediation and/or conflict resolution sessions
Researches, interprets, and provides advisory services regarding various areas of employment law such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), etc
Develops and/or provides advice in the development of HR policies and procedures
Conducts training for supervisors and/or employees on an assortment of work related issues, as required
Participates as a panel member in the interview and selection process
Participates in other HR special projects
May assist with State Employee Recognition Week (SERW), annual meetings activities and other duties and responsibilities, as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED AND Three years of experience providing educational, training or instructional services in functional area
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in law, criminal justice or related field AND Three years of experience in a related field OR Two years of equivalent experience in a position equivalent to the lower level (HR Manager, EEO Officer, or Advanced Level HR Analyst)
Six or more years of HR experience, three years of which must be at a HR professional level
Demonstrated ability to effectively advise managers and/or employees on issues relative to individual job performance and/or personal conduct
Demonstrated ability to review, interpret and make recommendations concerning personnel policies and/or procedures
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with employees and managers at all levels and display a professional image
Possess excellent problem solving skills with the ability to make sound, well-informed decisions
Demonstrated ability to build effective teams, foster commitment and team spirit
Must be a results oriented, self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision
Proficient in computer applications
Ability to travel periodically between the Districts, OGC and satellite locations is required
Committed to providing quality customer service
Preferred
Demonstrated experience using PeopleSoft HR or a similar software application
Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite and Sharepoint
Self-motivated, results oriented and demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a highly deadline-oriented environment
A good working knowledge of a variety of HR policies and practices in a government organization (federal, state, county or municipal)
HR professional certification (SPHR or PHR from HRCI or SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP)
