Responsibilities

Edit the content of technical writing products including component manuals, and maintenance and alteration documents

Maintain configuration management of all work related to their products

Plan/coordinate issuance of product liabilities to support ship and construction schedules

Resolve items identified as discrepant directly with engineering, shipyard organizations, and the customer

Determine the technical requirements of the writing product and instruct the writer as to the format and content

Provide mentorship and training to new and experienced writers

Work with supervision to determine priorities, schedule, and work load to plan and coordinate the work of the group

Review and edit interactive electronic technical manuals

Ensure that the products are prepared in accordance with published procedures and processes

As directed, attend various meetings representing D403 supervision

Recommend and implement process improvement initiatives

Ensure quality of products

Act as a lead editor for department XML conversion efforts, especially pertaining to component technical manuals
