Responsibilities
Inspect, operate and/or test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and provide recommendations for repair
Locate source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments
Provide detailed written description of work performed
Provide scope of work, parts, and equipment requirements for repairs during both scheduled and unscheduled mill and kiln outages
Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run efficient and effectively
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent from accredited institution is required
Must have minimum of four (4) years' experience in heavy process equipment, preferably in the mineral processing industry, or a minimum of six months experience cement plant operations
Ability to remove and install guards and other equipment
Ability to align couplings, motors and gearboxes
Ability to maintain and replace bearings
Must be able to exhibit competence in welding and flame cutting
Ability to perform mechanical assembly and fabrication
Ability to operate maintenance trucks, mobile equipment, forklifts and manlifts
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Close attention to detail
Maintain and clean and safe working environment by complying with safety policies, practices and procedures
Able to work different extended hours, holidays and/or overtime as required
Speak, read, write and understand English
Ability to work independently, without constant supervision
Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions
In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders and walk on mixed terrain and in confined spaces
