Merchandising Services Intern
Stop & Shop is a major grocery retailer that has been serving its customers for over a century. The Merchandising Services Intern will support the development and execution of retail merchandising strategies while gaining hands-on experience in category management, marketing, and analytics.

Responsibilities
Support the merchandising services team with category management tasks, item setup, and product maintenance
Assist in gathering, organizing, and reviewing data and then generating insights and actionable recommendations for key business decisions
Use internal systems and tools to track and analyze performance and trends
Collaborate with cross-functional partners in finance, marketing, and ADUSA support
Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders
Help identify opportunities to optimize promotions, pricing, and category management
Jump in wherever needed to support day-to-day merchandising operations in a fast-paced environment
Create a final presentation highlighting internship learnings and process improvement recommendations
Hands-on experience with analytics, retail merchandising, category management, and marketing
Exposure to cross-functional collaboration across multiple corporate departments
Strong analytical skills through working with real business data and performance metrics
Improved technical skills by using Excel, reporting tools, and merchandising systems
Practical understanding of how merchandising decisions impact sales, customer behavior, and store execution
Enhanced problem-solving abilities through participation in key planning and execution processes
Experience navigating a fast-paced, dynamic commercial environment within a major grocery retailer
Qualification
Required
Active enrollment is undergraduate college or university (Junior or Senior applications will take priority for this role)
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
Clear written and verbal communication
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, essential
Ability to collaborate with a team and to prioritize tasks
Strong foundation in data science and analysis
Ability to interpret datasets, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions
Strong attention to detail
Naturally curious to learn and dig into the 'why' behind the numbers to uncover meaningful opportunities
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and be available from June 1, 2026 through August 8, 2026
Preferred
Data science or equivalent major, preferred
Basic business acumen, preferred understanding of retail, merchandising, or consumer behavior
Familiarity with key business and financial concepts, such as sales, margins, units, and category performance
Experience with analytical tools such as Power BI or Tableau preferred
Awareness of regional and multicultural customer preferences, preferred
Ability to translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations, strongly preferred
