SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2026 intern for their Fredericksburg or Winchester, VA office, offering valuable hands-on experience in environmental business operations. The intern will assist project teams with environmental monitoring, assessment, and remediation tasks, gaining practical skills in the field and data management.

Responsibilities

Record data during field work, including but not limited to soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater or surface water data, photographs, or summaries of visual observations through photograph and written field logs in accordance with standard operating procedures

Collect samples from hazardous and non-hazardous sites, including soil, air, surface water, and groundwater

Laboratory data management and review

Prepare environmental monitoring reports, including tabulated data, charts, graphs, sketches, statistical analysis, and/or figures

Prepare reports such as stormwater and groundwater compliance reports

Participate in health and safety training as required

Required

Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, soil science, environmental science, environmental or geological engineering and graduating by June 2028 required

Must be willing to live in the Fredericksburg or Winchester area for Summer 2026 (housing will not be provided)

A valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required

Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office required
