Spacecraft Systems Engineer / Space Communications

The Spacecraft Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of the STPSat-6 spacecraft, developing procedures for spacecraft activities, and analyzing mission partner requests.

Responsibilities

Perform daily monitoring and trending of the STPSat-6 spacecraft state-of-health data
Develop procedures for performing spacecraft activities, including battery management, station-keeping maneuvers, and momentum unloads
Analyzes mission partner requests and execute payload commanding
Plans and conducts experimental, operational simulations
Analyze and identify spacecraft anomaly root causes, then plan and execute recovery actions
Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates testing of aerospace systems
Plans and coordinates activities concerned with investigating and resolving aerospace vehicle and or mission partner concerns
Monitor and maintain associated ground equipment and coordinate maintenance activities
Performs risk assessment of aerospace systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies
Occasional work during nights or weekends is required when executing activities or anomaly recoveries
As experience is gained, provide on-the-job training to peers
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 0-2 years of relative experience
This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship

Preferred

Active Secret security clearance
MS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
1+ years of experience in digital signal processing
Proficiency with Systems Tool Kit, FreeFlyer, MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW
Previous spacecraft operations, design, or test experience
Experience with spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power sensors, and/or other RF equipment
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with peers and TDRS management
Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
