Responsibilities

Follow and analyze investment grade and crossover energy and utility credits
Review earnings and any significant news on a daily basis for credits
Work with the trading desk to position correctly and maximize profit
Work with sales and clients to provide information and investment ideas
Help to increase the credit skills of the sales team by conducting bi-monthly teach-ins
Work closely with DCM and support the group for underwriting mandates
Help differentiate CIBC and elevate our research profile

Required

Undergraduate or graduate degree in related field (Economics, Commerce) and 0-2 years of related experience
Series 7 and 63 is required
Longstanding relationships with key buyside clients
Thorough understanding of the financial markets and market influences, including general current affairs
Ability to deal with the inherent conflict between the sales and trading functions, and maintain a strong position in the face of opposition
Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients and staff
Ability to relay complex news/developments in a concise/clear manner
Ability to work under pressure
