Communications Intern - Strategy, Impact & Communications

NYSERDA is dedicated to advancing clean energy and renewable infrastructure in New York State. The Communications Intern will support the Strategy, Impact, and Communications team in various activities, including content creation, social media management, and event planning.

Energy

Responsibilities

Working closely with the full Strategy, Impact, and Communications (SIC) team, support the full range of day-to-day activities with an emphasis on broad profile elevation (including but not limited to, event management, public relations and communications) and other strategic initiatives, including with respect to:
Assist in drafting and editing content for social media, newsletters, website updates, and internal communications
Support development of blog posts, transaction profiles, fact sheets, and impact-focused content
Conduct basic research and fact-checking to support communications materials
Help create and schedule social media posts on LinkedIn
Assist with basic analytics tracking and reporting
Support content organization and digital asset management
Assist with press release coordination, media lists, and announcement tracking
Support preparation of talking points, briefing materials, and background documents
Monitor media coverage and compile weekly or monthly summaries
Support planning and promotion of events, panels, and internal programs
Assist with event logistics, materials, and post-event communications
Provide general project support to the communications team as needed
Ability to demonstrate respect, equity and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community

Required

Current student at an accredited college
Sophomore or Junior in college
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts
Extensive proficiency in MS Office products including Power Point and Word, along with strong problem-solving skills
Basic knowledge of social media, digital marketing tools, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Competency in data analytics with an ability to aggregate and extrapolate information from various data sources and analytics reports
Ability to demonstrate respect, equity and inclusive behavior and practices of a diverse workforce and community

Preferred

At least one other internship in a related field
