Staff Accountant

The Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their fiscal department team. The main responsibilities include processing payables, reconciling accounts, and maintaining organized files for all invoices and related documents.

Responsibilities

Reviewing, verifying and entering all invoices in the accounting system, printing of outgoing AP payments timely and accurately
Prepare related accounts payable journal entries
Serves as the main liaison for communication with all vendors
Create and maintain recurring check requests
Record all vendor electronic bank debits as incurred
Prepare weekly payable reports by due date, necessary for cash flow and cash requirement projections
Update disbursements daily on the cash balance control file, for submission to Controller with recommendations for timely disbursements
Verifying vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
Verify appropriate approvals and coding for all invoices
Maintenance and monthly reconciliation of prepaid accounts and their corresponding journal entries
Prepare month-end journal entries as needed
General ledger AP related account reconciliations as assigned
Prepare, reconcile and submission of annual 1099 forms
Prepare schedules and provide support required for annual audits and any other funder audits
Responsible for maintaining organized files for all invoices and related documents
Other duties as required

Qualification

Accounting degreeAccounts payable experienceMicrosoft ExcelSAGE softwareAnalytical skillsSpreadsheet skillsVendor managementCommunication skills

Required

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field or the equivalent work experience
Minimum 5 years work experience preferably in a not-for-profit environment
Excellent spreadsheet skills, Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred

Proficiency in pivot tables
Knowledge of SAGE software
