Responsibilities
Develop design plans for new transportation structures and for the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of bridges/culverts and miscellaneous structures that are a part of transportation systems
Utilize CADD and engineering software to create detailed design plans and technical drawings
Prepare structural design calculations in compliance with relevant design standards and client preferences
Perform structural analysis on both new and existing transportation structures using specialized design software
Prepare construction cost estimates and specifications for various transportation projects
Participate in field inspections of structures over and adjacent to roadways and water
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from ABET accredited engineering program
0-5 years of design experience in structural engineering field. Relevant internship or co-op experience and/or college coursework will be considered
The ability and motivation to obtain EIT certification in the first year of employment
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members and project managers
Willing to work in the field performing hands-on inspections of transportation structures
Preferred
EIT Certification is preferred
Experience with project delivery of State Agency Transportation Department projects is desirable
Experience with the design and analysis of transportation structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls, ancillary structures) preferred
Knowledge of MicroStation is desirable
