Responsibilities

Participate in a comprehensive 12-week training program designed to set you up for success
Utilize our cutting-edge knowledge-based software to quickly access documents and adapt to training in real time
Deliver a world-class patient experience by handling billing inquiries with professionalism and care
Update patient demographics accurately and efficiently
Resolve billing concerns and provide clear, empathetic support to patients
Navigate challenging conversations with patience and professionalism
Collaborate with a team of Customer Account Analysts, Team Leads, and Supervisors to improve processes and enhance patient satisfaction
May perform some or all of the following: Answer all incoming patient/client calls
Take credit card payments over the telephone and posts to patient's accounts
Set up monthly payment plans on patient accounts
Add or correct insurance registration and files claims accordingly
Update demographics to include address and telephone numbers based on patient's telephone calls
Document all actions taken on accounts in the system account notes to ensure all prior actions are noted and understandable by others
Review accounts to resolve discrepancies in account balances and ensure payments are in accordance with the respective contract, appropriate discounts or applicable write-off completed. Including posting any undistributed credits while talking to the patient
Transfer call and/or account to Patient Financial Advocate to resolve complex account issues and escalated patient calls
Attend seminars, webinars, workshops, and actively participates in Occupational Training and Development and Compliance educational activities
Maintain knowledge of all university applicable rules, regulations, policies, guidelines that impact Billing Operations; seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding of job functions
Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; (c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years directly related medical billing and customer service experience for billing inquiries
Call center experience (medical billing preferred)
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Passion for problem-solving and service excellence
Work requires proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing software
Work requires strong organizational skills
Work requires strong oral and written communication skills, including the use of medical terminology
Work requires a high level of customer service and the ability to maintain friendly and appropriate communication with patients, client staff, insurance companies, and employees
