Legal Department Intern | 2026 Treasury Summer Internship Program
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) is seeking a law student for an internship position in the Office of the State Treasurer's Legal Department. Interns will assist the legal team with research, drafting legal documents, and attending meetings while gaining exposure to various legal areas.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Research statutes, regulations, and case authority relating to a variety of issues; draft legal memoranda as required
Provide written or oral responses to legal inquiries from Treasury departments
Assist with drafting policies, regulations, and administrative law pleadings
Attend various internal and external meetings with Treasury legal staff
Assist with administrative tasks related to legal team operations
Other tasks as requested
Qualification
Required
Law student (2L or 3L)
Cover letter (REQUIRED)
Ability to lift up to 10lbs
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Excellent research skills, including adeptness with Westlaw
Ability to write clearly and persuasively
Demonstrated interest in governmental and/or public interest work
Working knowledge of MS Office Software, especially Excel and Word
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments at once
