Responsibilities
Promotes the values and mission of Ingalls Memorial Hospital
Promotes clinical excellence and service
Strong patient advocate
Demonstrates knowledge of proper telephone function and proper telephone etiquette
Screens and coordinates incoming and outgoing calls including recording and reporting pages and messages
Answers call lights promptly, communicates patient needs to appropriate personnel, and follow up on patient requests to ensure response
Transcribes medical staff orders in an accurate and timely manner
Ensures accurate processing of orders and charges from admission through hospitalization
Ensure accurate maintenance of the patient’s medical record and all unit records
Assembles the medical record in the proper sequence checking that all forms are stamped
Identifies outlier reports and forms and notes on audit tool for completion
Participates in inventory ordering and the distribution of clerical supplies/patient forms and disposition of outdated forms
Monitors discharge activities related to the billing process
Qualification
Required
Unit Secretary/Clerical experience, background and/or training
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to function effectively in an extended team environment
Ability to resolve conflict effectively
Ability to give and receive feedback
Computer literate
Preferred
Medical Terminology background
Transcription experience
Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel
