Responsibilities

Performs professional engineering work including but not limited to water management, air pollution control/management, noise pollution control/management, coastal resource management, hazardous/non-hazardous waste control/management
Reviews engineering plans, makes determinations and/or recommendations on plans
Field visits, inspections, investigations/surveys
Gathers data, researches and analyzes information as it relates to environmental control work
The enforcement of environmental laws and/or regulations
Works with Environmental Impact Statements
Does related work as required
Assist in the monitoring, planning, development and review of projects with specific application of Environmental Engineer 2 job specifications
Make field visits; inspections; surveys; gather data; research and analyze information; and undertake other related work as required

Required

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Ocean, Coastal, Bio-Resource, Sanitary, Industrial, Agricultural or Mining Engineering, or other field of engineering related to the environment
Two (2) years of professional experience in environmental engineering work
A valid Professional Engineer's license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree in Engineering
A Master's degree in one of the fields specified above may be substituted for one (1) year of the above experience
All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position
