Strategic Coordinator to the Executive Director, TRQ - 26079
NYC Public Schools is focused on recruiting diverse and talented teachers to enhance the quality of education. The Strategic Coordinator to the Executive Director provides high-level administrative support, manages communications and calendars, and assists with the execution of organization-wide engagements.
Responsibilities
Manage the Executive Director’s calendar with a strategic lens and consideration of a range of priorities
Proactively identify scheduling conflicts, prioritize engagements, and ensure optimal use of time aligned with recruitment cycles, school year milestones, and strategic initiatives
Draft, review, and edit communications, including responses to cross-divisional and district partners, internal and external stakeholders
Coordinate and prepare for meetings, including agenda development, document preparation, and post-meeting follow-up
Develop and maintain systems for tracking priorities, commitments, and follow-through across domains; ensure timely and appropriate follow-up
Ensure the Executive Director is well prepared and briefed for all engagements
Support the coordination of executive team meetings, retreats, and planning sessions, including agenda setting, facilitation support, and documentation
Provide operational support to executive team members as needed, helping to drive organizational cohesion and performance
Model divisional and team competencies and culture
Prepare briefing materials and synthesize complex information—such as policy updates, talent data, and program evaluations—to support executive decision-making
Support cross-functional projects and initiatives from concept to execution, such as new teacher induction programs, strategic hiring pilots, or talent data system rollouts
Track progress on key initiatives, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are aligned with organizational goals and talent outcomes
Develop dashboards or summaries that help the Executive Director and leadership team monitor progress toward strategic goals in teacher talent workforce planning
Coordinate team participation in public events, panels, and conferences related to education, workforce development
Prepare documents and logistics for engagements that elevate the team’s priorities and impact
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in '1' above
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, individuals must have two additional years of the experience described in '1' above
Preferred
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in public administration, business, or a related field preferred
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in executive support, strategic advisory, consulting, or nonprofit/public sector leadership
Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
Exceptional project management, prioritization and time management skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
High emotional intelligence, discretion, and professionalism
Strong proficiency in productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office 365 applications, Google Workspace, project management platforms)
