Chief Financial Officer
Hermes Landscaping is a premier landscaping provider in Kansas City, seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and drive strategic growth. The CFO will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and team management, ensuring the company's long-term fiscal health and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Direct all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed asset management. Ensure strict adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory compliance
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing insightful reports to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team
Serve as the primary liaison for all internal and external audits (e.g., annual financial audits, tax audits). Implement and maintain robust internal controls and accounting procedures to mitigate risk and safeguard company assets
Translate operational data into strategic business decisions. Partner with executive leadership to develop long-term financial strategies, capital expenditure plans, and M&A activities
Optimize cash flow management, manage banking relationships, and oversee debt financing and investment portfolios
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems and processes, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Mentor and manage the finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and professional growth
Provide strategic direction for the IT and administrative departments, day-to-day operations are running efficiently and ensuring infrastructure supports business objectives efficiently, managing cybersecurity risks, and optimizing technology investments
Oversee internal and external legal matters, ensuring the company operates within all local, state, and federal regulations. Manage corporate governance, risk management, contract negotiation, and litigation oversight
Direct the management of all physical properties and facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations, including lease administration, space planning, and vendor management
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across finance, IT, legal, and facilities departments
Foster a culture of compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the organization
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 5+ years of experience serving explicitly in a Controller or VP of Accounting role, demonstrating expert-level command of core accounting operations, technical accounting research, and month-end close processes
10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, culminating in a senior leadership position (CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent)
10-15 years of senior leadership experience working across multiple functional areas such as finance, administration, IT, and operations
Broad knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, accounting, administration, IT, and risk management planning
Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong leadership presence with excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
Manage all external legal activities with vendors, customers, and former employees
Support all external audit activities with third-party vendors and governmental agencies
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Preferred
An MBA or Master's in Accounting is a plus
