Specialist, Global Internal Communications

Merck is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to support employee communications for their Animal Health division. This role will develop content for internal channels and coordinate communications to ensure employees are informed and engaged with the organization’s priorities and culture.

Responsibilities

Develop clear, compelling content for internal channels—including our Animal Health intranet, newsletter, leadership messages, and operational updates
Assist with development of employee-generated content to be shared internally and externally, highlighting the work and impact of Animal Health employees across the organization
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with company priorities
Assist with development of materials to support people leaders in cascading key messages to their teams
Support development and execution of creative methods to foster multi-way communication among the company, our Executive Team members and our employees
Help develop, create, and coordinate content for quarterly global Animal Health town halls, including talking points, slides, and video concepts
Participate in the reimagining of the company’s digital employee environment, helping shape improved navigation, user experience, and storytelling within these platforms

Required

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
2–5 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related field; pharmaceutical, healthcare or science-based industry experience a plus
Knowledge and understanding of communications practices, tools and techniques
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively
Creative thinker and passionate about building culture
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging, employee-friendly language
Comfort working in matrixed environments and managing multiple priorities
Positive, proactive attitude
Organized with attention to detail
Experience designing slides or creating simple visual communication assets a plus
