Responsibilities

Performs moderately complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications
Plans research efforts within the schedule and scope constraints provided by senior technical experts
Analyzes and interprets data collected
Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal
Conducts and/or leads small technical projects or phases of technical projects
Completes assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints
Assists with proposal efforts as needed
Builds relationships with internal clients
Contributes to IR&D studies and prepares invention disclosures as part of a team
Supports business development efforts led by others
May oversee lower-level staff in extracting and preparing data for analysis

Required

B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with 2-5 years of experience, M.S. in related field with 0-3 years of experience, or PhD
U.S. Citizenship is required
Ability to obtain security clearance. Candidates should anticipate the need to submit to a background check for obtaining clearances for classified government projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent Battelle or its clients at conferences or public forums
Good laboratory and documentation skills

Preferred

PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field
Experience in engineering model development
Experience using computer programming to analyze complex data sets (ex: Python, Matlab)
