Business Operations Manager (People, Finance Ops & Company Operations) — Remote

Recon Analytics is a rapidly growing, fully distributed professional-services firm looking for its first dedicated business operations hire. The Business Operations Manager will own the operational backbone of the company, supporting leadership across people operations, finance operations, and general business operations.

Market Research

Responsibilities

Act as the operational glue across teams
Own internal workflows, approvals, and follow-through
Coordinate cross-functional projects and leadership priorities
Identify recurring operational issues and fix them
Create and maintain lightweight internal documentation and SOPs
Improve how decisions, requests, and information flow through the company
Support leadership with ad-hoc operational projects as needed
Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end
Be the first point of contact for employee questions (policies, benefits, logistics)
Coordinate performance review cycles and compensation administration (not strategy)
Support managers with people-related processes and documentation
Maintain employee records and compliance processes
Partner with leadership on sensitive employee issues with discretion and good judgment
Coordinate AP / AR, invoicing, and collections
Manage expense reporting and reimbursements
Track budget vs actuals and basic financial reporting
Coordinate payroll inputs and changes
Serve as the primary interface with external bookkeeper and CPA
Ensure clean, timely inputs for month-end close
Manage vendors, tools, contracts, and renewals
Own internal systems (HRIS, Ramp-based expenses, shared drives, etc.)
Handle operational logistics that don’t clearly belong to any one team

Required

4–10 years experience in business operations, people ops, or generalist roles
Experience in a small company environment (ideally 15–75 employees)
Comfortable wearing multiple hats across operations, people, and finance ops
Strong written communication and async work habits
High discretion and sound judgment
Ability to work independently without heavy structure

Preferred

First or early ops hire at a previous company
Experience supporting distributed or remote teams
Experience working with PEOs, payroll providers, bookkeepers, and CPAs
Experience partnering closely with founders or senior leadership
