Fire Administrator - Phoenix Fire Department Regional Dispatch Center
The City of Phoenix is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fire Administrator to lead and manage the Phoenix Fire Department Regional Dispatch Center. The role involves overseeing the performance and development of the PFDRDC, ensuring effective emergency service delivery across jurisdictions, and managing a team of approximately 120 personnel.

Responsibilities
Anticipate and forecast what will or may be required for the PFDRDC to effectively support and serve one of the largest fire and emergency response organizations in the world
Lead and manage the development of methods and procedures to ensure that work is effectively integrated internally, between partner agencies, and stakeholders. Organizing efforts internally and with partner agencies with a constant focus on customer service excellence and personnel safety
Oversee the direction, development, and motivation of subordinate PFDRDC personnel
Conduct comprehensive assessments of PFDRDC performance, ensuring work is being performed properly and professionally, in alignment with City and Phoenix Fire Department policies, procedures, and national consensus standards. Evaluation of PFDRDC performance involves determining whether PFDRDC resources are sufficient and properly allocated based on objective metrics
Overall responsibility for the PFDRDC core mission of receiving requests for emergency assistance, timely gathering of caller information, and appropriate dispatching and support of emergency response resources
Qualification
Required
Five years of professional experience in public safety management, including budget administration, human resource management, labor relations, communication, or other technical areas
Three years of experience supervising professional staff, including experience with Public Safety Answering Points, 911 operations, emergency communications technology, personnel management, and policy implementation
A bachelor's degree in management, computer science, fire administration, public administration, emergency management, communications, or another related field
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
Preferred
Strong understanding of National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standards related to communications (e.g., NFPA 1221/1225)
Proven experience in public safety and emergency services, preferably with experience in leading and managing PSAP operations
Strong knowledge of municipal government, managing budgets, personnel, and labor relations
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with public safety (e.g., Fire and Police), city management, elected officials, and cross-functional teams
Excellent communication, organization, human resource management, and leadership skills
The ability to interact with executives and dignitaries, present at public meetings as required, and represent the Fire Chief for matters involving the PFDRDC
A strategic mindset with a commitment to public service and community safety
Proven track record of successfully leading, managing, and mentoring large teams
