Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage the organization's data architecture
Collaborate with technology and management teams to understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization and translate into a usable blueprint
Build an inventory of data needed to implement architecture and create a vision for how data will flow through the organization
Design and build complex data models, approve modifications, and implement systems
Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, constantly monitoring and refining the performance of data management systems
Produce and enforce database development standards
Possess strong understanding of data modeling tools and standards, ETL tools, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Pig, NoSQL)
Recognized as subject matter expert and advanced individual contributor professional
Requires specialized skill set
Conducts highly complex work, unsupervised and with extensive latitude for independent judgment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect IV
Master's degree (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect IV
Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect V
Master's degree (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect V
Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 12 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect VI
Master's degree (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect VI
Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) + 14 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect VII
Master's degree (or equivalency) + 12 years of directly related work experience for Data Architect VII
Proficient in data analysis and management
Familiar with Microsoft Business Intelligence stack
Proficiency in either Python or R
Strong understanding of data modeling tools and standards
Strong understanding of ETL tools
Strong understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Pig, NoSQL)
Expert use of natural language processing libraries (spaCy, medspaCy, huggingface, etc.) and/or machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, Pytorch, etc.)
Preferred
Previous experience with VA CDW, University Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW), or other large electronic health record or administrative healthcare data sets
Experience with TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI
