Test Engineer III
Loram Maintenance of Way, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer III responsible for developing test plans and conducting tests on mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems. The role involves providing direction to junior engineers, analyzing complex data for machine performance improvements, and offering engineering support to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities
Translate testing requirements into a system design and executing test plans. Provide input to machine concept development and prepare time and scope estimates for new test requests
Directs and coordinates engineering activities concerned with instrumentation, data acquisition, data analysis, reporting, conclusions, and recommendations
Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors
Validate designs through testing and analysis
Coordinate own testing efforts as well as other engineers and technicians to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team
Research, test and recommend new and emerging technologies and processes for systems and components
Qualification
Required
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Technical Learning
7+ years' experience of test engineering; developing and executing test plans, selecting equipment to meet test criteria, and writing test reports
Experience directing the activities of junior engineers or technicians
Experience with domestic and international testing standards and compliance regulations, as well as an understanding of the networks and resources available to answer technical questions related to systems testing validation
Experience in Project engineering or related experience leading multi-discipline technical design teams or department or group management responsibility including functional oversight, budget and expense management and personnel performance management
Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials
Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite
Collaborate with others to clarify requirements and develop solutions
Individual has mastered and correctly applies test theory and scientific investigation processes
Individual has gained significant knowledge in machine subsystems, main systems, and machine operations
Individual has shown ability to successfully troubleshoot test equipment and setup
Experienced and project proven test engineer that is capable of independent work
Preferred
MS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
Autodesk and ERP software
Knowledge of test instrumentation uses and calibration practices for measurement of pressure, strain, temperature, electric power
Knowledge and use of data acquisition systems
Knowledge of data analysis programs
