DOLA Property Tax Specialist I (Appraisal Standards).
The State of Colorado's Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is dedicated to strengthening local communities through various services. They are seeking a Property Tax Specialist I to assist in research, training, and providing appraisal assistance related to property tax administration.

Responsibilities
Researches legal and appraisal issues that generally have a broad impact throughout the state
Plans, organizes, and develops the research procedures under the guidance of higher-level Property Tax Specialists
Summarizes the facts and findings for presentation to higher-level Property Tax Specialists and possibly to other interested parties
Researches and recommends new and revised appraisal curricula, course outlines, materials, examples, and examinations for appraisal continuing education as well as other courses, workshops, seminars and schools for assessors and their staff
Instructs appraisal continuing education classes and participates in instructing appraisal qualifying education
Prepares written reports upon conclusion of courses to evaluate the content, materials, and instruction methods
Provides appraisal assistance to county assessors, staff and the general public through telephone calls, e-mails, and in-person visits
Qualification
Required
Five (5) years total experience conducting real estate appraisals or as an employee of a county assessor's office
At least one (1) year conducting real estate appraisals or working in a county assessor's office AND teaching, training or formal presentation experience totaling five (5) years
A combination of related education in accounting, finance, business management, public administration, real estate or a closely related field (as determined by the agency) AND experience as described above equal to five years
Applicants must possess or be working toward a current and valid real estate appraisal license, issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, at the time of application to be considered
Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind

You MUST be a Colorado resident (at the time of application) to apply for this position
Pre-employment criminal background checks will be conducted as part of the selection process
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be appointed to this position
MUST have a valid, unrestricted Colorado drivers license with a safe driving record
Preferred
Experience in a county assessor's office with real property classification and/or valuation of fee appraisal experience
Experience in presenting to a group, providing training or workshops, or public speaking
