Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting with the preparation and successful completion of construction package deliverables (design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analysis, technical memoranda, and design documentation reports)
Generate conceptual layouts/designs of flood control structures, floodgates, channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, spillways, rock drains, and underground storm drain systems
Serve as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projects
Work with existing and potential clients to provide long-term stormwater management solutions for clean water projects
Develop project proposals and work with other business leaders to support and grow the surface water practice in the Los Angeles region
Provide direction to and mentoring other technical staff in completing project tasks
Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work
May be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s)
Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the surface water projects
Provide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil design
Preparing and reviewing working drawings, plans, cost estimates, studies, reports, and other work products
Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, hydraulic structures, and roadway drainage systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualification
Required
BA/BS + 8 years of experience or related experience in drainage design or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (P.E.) in CA or the ability to obtain within 6 months of work
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Master's in Civil Engineering or related field of study
Good understanding of the Los Angeles market and state agencies, and ability to support marketing efforts in pursuing work
15+ years of proven Project Management experience and supervising staff
Progressive project experience, including task leadership and project management roles on design-build projects
Experience as the primary point of contact with the client and proven ability to develop client relationships
Strong team leader with excellent interpersonal skills who effectively works with and supports team members
Public presentation experience
Lead technical design teams for analysis of Water resources infrastructure (dams, reservoirs, levees, canals, tunnels, pipelines, flood protection systems, and conveyance facilities) projects
Knowledge of agency/regulatory approval process, standards, and best practices
