Payroll Supervisor

Responsibilities
Supervise payroll processors, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback
Manage daily workflow to ensure timely and accurate completion of payroll cycles
Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll questions or issues and provide effective resolutions
Train, mentor, and onboard new payroll staff on processes, systems, and compliance requirements
Review weekly/bi-weekly/monthly payroll cycles to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and client specifications
Conduct regular audits of payroll output for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal controls
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and proactively address process gaps or inefficiencies
Ensure payroll activities align with company policies, service-level agreements, and industry best practices
Identify opportunities to streamline procedures and enhance workflow efficiency
Collaborate with internal teams, including HR, Accounting, and Client Services, to support seamless payroll operations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and system enhancements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
Minimum 4–5 years of payroll experience, including hands-on processing
Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role, ideally within a multi-client or high-volume payroll environment
Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms)
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, lookups)
Knowledge of FLSA, wage and hour laws, and multistate payroll requirements
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and client satisfaction
Preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
Experience working in a professional services or outsourced payroll environment
Exposure to process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean or Six Sigma)
