Legal Analyst (J.D. Advantage)

The Oklahoma Indigent Defense System is seeking a Legal Analyst to support evaluations of public expenditures for the Oklahoma State Legislature. The role involves conducting legal research and providing unbiased analysis to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of state-funded programs.

Law Practice

Responsibilities

Support all of LOFT’s evaluations with legal and general research and writing
Objectively determine whether taxpayer expenditures are producing desired results
Assist in developing recommendations to improve Oklahoma state government
Employ a varied range of skills, including fiscal and economic analysis, data analysis, review of processes, compiling observations from field work, conducting interviews, examining legislative intent, reviewing statutes and administrative code, and research
Contribute to evaluation projects that are completed by a team and must be able to work collaboratively and meet deadlines, resulting in written reports and in-person presentations

Required

Ability to work both independently and in a team dynamic
Experience with statutory and constitutional interpretations

Basic grasp of finance a plus, especially state fiscal experience
J.D. strongly preferred, other candidates with significant relevant experience considered
