Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Systems Engineer - W80-5 Systems Engineering II, Onsite

The R&D Systems Engineer will perform requirements tracing, verification mapping, and work in cross-functional teams to support the W80-4 and W80-5 programs.

Responsibilities
Perform requirements tracing, verification mapping, Fagan reviews, procedure development, planning, and implementation
Systems CONOPs, V&V plans, processes, and procedure writing
Work in cross functional teams
Interface with stakeholders/customers
Develop familiarity of product definitions
Employ analytical thinking to work through ambiguous problems with a multi-disciplinary team
Conduct trade studies and own key decisions based upon performance data, cost, and schedule constraints
Knowledgeable in Realize Product SubSystem (RPSS) familiarity for delivering quality nuclear weapon (NW) products
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development
Active DOE Q-level security clearance
Preferred
Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation)
Experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories and plants including Pantex, Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Lawrence Livermore Laboratory (LLNL) and Kansas City National Security Campus/New Mexico Operations (KCNSC/NMO)
Experience working on engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline plus 4 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's in a STEM discipline plus 8 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships with other Sandia organizations, external partners, customers, and stakeholders
Demonstrated team experience: effective leadership, delegation, teamwork, negotiation, conflict resolution
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing system engineering processes
Knowledge and experience with ND systems and subsystems
Demonstrated ability to develop products within the Nuclear Weapon Realize Product Subsystem
Excellent communication skills including the ability to prepare clearly written reports and deliver well-articulated briefings
