Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare
Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule
Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately
Registers, orders and accessions specimens utilizing the laboratory and hospital information systems by entering and/or verifying patient information
Matches requested tests to Laboratory-offered tests
Follows all UnityPoint Health – Des Moines policies regarding Medicare and Coding compliance
Prioritizes specimens and relays special requests, and all additional information
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
No experience is required
Preferred
Training as a unit clerk, medical assistant, medical secretary, or phlebotomist is preferred
Coursework in biology and/or chemistry is considered
Previous employment in a medical setting, in computer operations, and/or with telephone demands is preferred
