Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Co-Op - Spring/Summer 2026

WSP USA is one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms, seeking a Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Co-op for Spring/Summer 2026. This position offers students hands-on experience in plumbing and fire protection engineering through various projects in infrastructure and construction, while collaborating with senior engineers.

Responsibilities

Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
Learn basic principles of Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering
Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and plumbing/fire protection diagrams
Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis
Learn Autodesk Revit to model Plumbing & Fire Protection components and systems
Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications
Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress through various stages of a project
Become familiar with various engineering standards and codes
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation
Complete training on assigned tasks
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Required

Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later
Must be 18 or older
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
Capable of working independently and as part of a team
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the co-op/internship

Preferred

Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Masters/PhD program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later
Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
Prior co-op and/or internship and leadership involvement on campus
