Assistant Civil Engineer - Environmental Services (Denver)
Burns & McDonnell is a company specializing in engineering services, and they are seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to assist their overhead electric utility maintenance program. The role involves site visits, developing designs and permits for civil improvements, and preparing construction drawings while working under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
Responsibilities
Assists with site visits to assess and document field conditions related to utility infrastructure
Assists engineering teams in developing coordinated designs and permits for civil improvements
Assist in preparing and reviewing construction drawings and construction quantity takeoffs using applicable standards and design data
Assist in developing and maintaining effective project scheduling reports
Assists lead engineers with various project-related tasks
Assist in the preparation of stormwater management plans and permitting documentation
Assist with the organization and maintenance of project-related information in a clear and well-structured manner
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program required or
Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required
Willingness to travel and work in the field, up to 75% as required
Basic knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
Basic computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and civil analysis programs
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills
Demonstrated leadership skills
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located
Preferred
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred
Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
Involvement on campus or in the community preferred
