Responsibilities

Be a part of a team that is responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage proactively and reactively with federally elected officials, Congressional staff, third party groups, regulatory agencies, and the Administration on issues affecting Block

Find creative, proactive ways to engage with elected stakeholders to deliver key messaging on issues of importance

Maintain fluency on a wide variety of regulatory and policy issues including financial regulation, consumer protection, trade, tax, digital assets, AI/machine learning, intellectual property, and privacy

Serve as an effective advocate for Block and our customers on key policy and political matters, and craft positions for the company that will establish us as a thought leader and innovator

Track key regulatory activity, and develop strategies to achieve positive regulatory outcomes

Drive cross-functional processes to develop thoughtful, inclusive, and cohesive responses to incoming policy hurdles

Required

8+ years of experience in federal government relations, with a strong preference for experience in the financial services and technology sectors

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; and an ability to effectively explain complicated issues and policy positions to any audience

Experience navigating complex policy issues

Ability to be adaptable to changing timelines and able to prioritize effectively

A love of technology, and passion for Block's purpose

Proven ability to work collaboratively across internal functions

Entrepreneurial style and comfort working in fast-paced environments

Impeccable ethics and high integrity
