Pacific Biosciences is seeking an experienced, highly motivated metrology engineer to join the Consumable NPI team to work on current and next generation products. This role involves working as part of a diverse team to develop complex consumables for sequencing technology and improve the quality of consumable metrology.

Responsibilities

Developing, improving, and sustaining chip metrology processes to support both R&D and high-volume manufacturing

Providing hands-on support for all technical and data aspects of chip metrology activities on the production line, including proprietary in-house metrology tools

Working with external partners, R&D, QA, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet production targets and drive timely execution of engineering projects

Designing and executing statistical analyses, such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC), to identify the physical failure mechanism and improve yield and quality

Designing and performing Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Process Capability Analysis, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R)

Developing and preparing clear and concise documentation including SOP, travelers, batch records, ECOs, NCRs et al

Mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance as needed

Required

Typically requires 9-12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a minimum of 7-10 years with a Master's degree; or a minimum of 6-9 years with a PhD

A degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biophysical Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Proven ability to establish and maintain close and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors

Experience with photonic chip metrology and proficiency in an electro-optical laboratory environment

Significant proficiency with JMP, MATLAB, SQL, Perl, or Python

Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes

Strong knowledge in NPI, CAPA, FMEA, Statistical Process Control, and lean manufacturing

Analytical and data driven mindset

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Require working in a clean room or lab environment and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs
