Mechanical Engineering Intern (Design)

Responsibilities

Participate in technical projects and programs designed to develop personal and professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the Engineering Department
Perform various duties related to the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department based on area of specialty
Examples of typical assignments include:
System and subsystem analysis and requirements specification
System and subsystem modeling and performance analysis
Design of mechanical components to engineering specifications
Fabrication and debug of prototype mechanical hardware
Develop and conduct mechanical tests
Component investigations with suppliers and subcontractors
Organization and correlation of test data in electronic format utilizing spreadsheets, word processing and database software
Support manufacturing personnel for programs in production
Interact directly with colleagues and other internal or external resources in the planning of assignments and completion of projects
Ability to conduct research, create and generate required documentation including design reports, assembly procedures, bills-of-material, and test procedures based on findings, to include recommendations or alternative proposals for action

Required

High School diploma and current enrollment in an accredited technical Bachelor's degree program
Satisfactory completion of at least 2-3 years of college in an engineering major
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills
The ability to understand and follow complex, detailed instructions, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with basic shop tools and/or machine equipment
Understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, optical, or software engineering principles
Requires technical writing and documentation skills

CAD skill preferred
