Assists with employee relations issues
Assists with workforce planning initiatives for department
Researches and provides analysis of HR issues and initiatives
Assists with recruitment processes for department

Required

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in human resource management, public administration, or a related field
Basic knowledge of principles of HR administration and management principles and practices
Basic knowledge of federal, state, and county laws, regulations and ordinances pertaining to human resources
Ability to use computer hardware and software
Ability to gather and analyze data
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with applicants, employees, and County officials
Ability to speak and write effectively
Four years of increasingly complex technical administrative experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Administrative Assistant IV, or higher, level
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services Registry check to the satisfaction of the employer

Preferred

Direct experience administering FMLA, ADA accommodations, and Workers' Compensation as a primary job responsibility, including managing multiple concurrent cases, communicating with employees and supervisors, and tracking statutory timelines and documentation
Experience interpreting and applying federal and state leave laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Paid Family Leave) to make eligibility determinations, issue required notices, and provide guidance to employees and supervisors
Experience tracking and maintaining Workers' Compensation claims documentation, including injury reports, claim status updates, medical restrictions, and return-to-work information, in coordination with a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) or insurer
Strong communication skills in drafting and reviewing policy manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Internal Communication
