ELECTRIC GENERATION SYSTEM PROGRAM SPECIALIST I

The California Energy Commission is seeking an Electric Generation System Program Specialist I in the Fuels and Transportation Division. The role involves providing technical leadership in clean transportation initiatives, focusing on hydrogen refueling and electric vehicle charging infrastructure to meet state energy goals.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Provides technical leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of the Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program and vehicle-grid integration
Conducts complex analyses and develops strategies to transition California’s transportation by focusing on the deployment of hydrogen refueling and electric vehicle charging infrastructure to achieve the goals of the state
Conducts the most complex technical and techno-economic analyses of zero-emission vehicle charging and refueling infrastructure deployment and informs decision-makers on strategies for achieving the state’s energy goals
Fosters governmental and private sector collaboration
Develops grant funding opportunities, develops and manages agreements, and engages in other funding and non-funding activities to support vehicle-grid integration and vehicle to grid advancement
Works with management to implement strategy and with staff to develop work products and information that are accurate, objective, timely, and useful in meeting the CEC’s mission
Provides mentoring to junior staff to develop technical expertise
Contributing author for the Senate Bill 643 report and the Assembly Bill 126 report

Preferred

Knowledge of alternative fuel vehicles, engines, and fueling infrastructures
Knowledge of transportation market evaluation methods and factors
Knowledge of current private sector and public policy related to environmental issues in the alternative transportation fuels, technologies and infrastructure development area
Knowledge of economic cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and quantitative analysis methodologies
Ability to make effective presentations and interact effectively with both internal staff and external regulatory agencies
Ability to interact will all levels of technical staff, management and Commissioners
Ability to assume a lead position in a team atmosphere related to environmental issues resolution
Excellent analytical and report writing skills and the ability to reason logically and creatively while utilizing a variety of analytical techniques
Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts effectively with a large diverse technical staff
Excellent interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to work in a team atmosphere under pressure effectively, as well as independently and at own initiative
