ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Caltrans District 3 is part of the Department of Water Resources, which manages California’s water resources. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer to assist in performing field and office electrical engineering work, including electrical designing, drafting, and inspection tasks.

Responsibilities
Assists the engineering staff in performing less complex field and office electrical and electronic engineering work
With training, performs electrical designing, drafting, and inspection work of average difficulty
Performs other related work
Qualification
Required
Must have ability to ascend/descend stairs, slopes and ladders to enter or exit vaults and structures as required for equipment access
Must possess a valid California Driver's License, class C, and operate vehicles on public roadways or travel to remote areas
Ability to move 30 pounds
Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job
Must be capable of operating a personal computer as use of word processor, spreadsheet, database and cad software is necessary to perform the requirements of this position
Under the provisions of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard CIP-004 as part of the Energy Policy of 2005, this position has authorized cyber access to, and/or unescorted physical access around, critical cyber assets and is subject to a satisfactory background check prior to appointment and every seven years thereafter
Preferred
Experience preparing and reviewing as-built plans, specs, charts, maps and diagrams
Experience with instrumention components including relays, programmable logic controllers, sensors & transducers, etc
Experience with electrical inspections
Experience making engineering calculations
Experience with preventative maintenance activities on electrical equipment and systems
Experience preparing engineering reports
Knowledge of power generation or transmission
Knowledge of Hydro structures
Experience or knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD, Microstation, Solidworks, etc.)
Knowledge of generating and/or pumping plant equipment such as transformers, power circuit breakers, motors, pumps & hydraulics, etc
Experience providing recommendations for corrective actions
Experience reviewing testing of electrical and mechanical equipment
Experience preparing plans, technical specifications, schedules and cost estimates
